Triumph Roadster 2000
In a bid to get rid of the rather Bland image his Standard cars carried Sir John Black bought the rights to the more Sporty Triumph Name. The first cars to leave the Standard- Triumph Factory were the Razor edge Saloon and the Roadster. The Roadster was designed to take on Jaguar Sports Cars, build by Sir John's competitor Lions. Albeit marketed as a Sports-car the new Roadster was more of an open topped tourer and never sold in great numbers.

The Razor -edge Saloon, so named because of the styling clues carried over from pre-war luxurious brands, role was to be the new luxurious transportation of the well heeded. It remained Triumphs top of the range car until 1954 after which the marque withdraw from the Saloon and Limousine market and concentrated on open Sport cars.
